ASTRID LINDGREN wrote books for children and young adults, picture books, theatre plays, collections of stories, the book Samuel August från Sevedstorp och Hanna i Hult which tells the love story of her parents, and the polemical work My cow wants to have fun. The books have been translated into a total of 89 languages, and have sold more than 145 million copies. |

Four artists have illustrated the greater part of Astrid Lingren's works: Ingrid Vang Nyman, Ilon Wikland, Bjorn Berg and Marit Tornqvist. But several other illustrators have also contributed to the harvest of pictures: Hans Arnold, Ewa Billow, Marika Delin, Lars Klinting, Eva Laurell, Pija Lindenbaum, Birgitta Nordenskjold, Eric Palmquist, Maivor Persson Malm, Svend Otto S, Kerstin Thorvall, Margit Uppenberg and Harald Wiberg.
Some of the foreign editions have been illustrated by other artists.
