COPYRIGHT is the right that the author has to his or her works and covers both economic and moral protection. It provides the sole right to use the work in any commercial context, for example through selling, renting, etc.  The moral right means the right to be named as the creator as well as protection against the work being altered or being performed or presented in a way that comprises the author's artistic standing. After the author's death, the copyright becomes the property of the author's heirs.


Saltkrakan AB owns the copyright to:

all of Astrid Lindgren's books, and all her texts published in any other form.

Astrid Lindgren's share of the copyright to all the films and theatre plays that are based on her works.


all of Ingrid Vang Nyman's pictures, both the illustrations to Pippi Longstocking and the Bullerby books, and to all her other pictures.

Through registration and by working up a market, Saltkrakan AB also owns a large number of trade marks associated with Astrid Lindgren's works, characters and settings.

Artists who have illustrated Astrid Lindgren's books own the copy-right to their own pictures. The only exception is Ingrid Vang Nyman, since Saltkrakan AB has acquired the economic copyright to all her pictures.


Composers who have written music for Astrid Lindgren's works,
for example for film or theatre, own the copyright to their own compositions. Saltkrakan AB does however own the copyright to
the lyrics (texts) that Astrid Lindgren wrote.


Photographers who have taken pictures of Astrid Lindgren own the copyright to their own photographs.
